Hi everyone!
I created this blog as part of my final course with UBC’s Teacher-Librarian program. I am currently a second year T-L with an independent school in British Columbia, and truly feel that the library is where I belong. It encompasses all the aspects of teaching that I love, such as a high level of collegial collaboration, research and information-seeking, and a special rapport with students and parents in the community. It has also been immensely helpful to come into this role after working in the school for several years, as the familiarity with the community and the school’s curriculum has made for a softer transition to the role. I do believe the role of a school librarian is highly underestimated, but I am quite happy to be in a quiet leadership position.
I’m a Xennial and feel this has been a great advantage, as I have the best of both worlds – the type of childhood I aspire towards for my children as well as a natural ease with technology. I’m looking forward to growing my knowledge with educational technology in this course.
